Beksinski always executed his paintings and drawings in either of two manners, which he respectively calls 'Baroque' and 'Gothic'. The first is dominated by representation, the second by form. Among the paintings produced during the past five years, those executed in the 'Gothic' manner have become more and more frequent, so much so that pictures in the other style have almost disappeared.
22 февраля 2005 года художник был найден мёртвым в своей квартире в Варшаве. На теле Бекшинского было обнаружено 17 колотых ран, две из которых были смертельными. Вскоре после этого были арестованы несовершеннолетний сын коменданта его дома, который позднее был признан виновным, и его друг. Известно, что незадолго до своей смерти Бекшински отказался дать в долг этому юноше.
